Dr. Briana M. Hill is a native of southern California and graduated
from the University of California with a Bachelor of Science
degree in biology in 1982. That summer she was commissioned
an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve and began studies
in medicine attending the Uniformed Services University of the
Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. She received
a doctorate of medicine in 1986 and returned to southern California
to complete a one year transitional internship at Balboa Naval
Hospital in San Diego.
Her first duty station was at the Branch Medical
Clinic, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a general medical officer. During
this three year tour she practiced general medicine in the military
sick call clinic and the acute care services of the Pearl Harbor
Medical Center.
Returning stateside she completed a “full-time out service” residency
program in Dermatology at the University of Colorado, Health Sciences
Center in Denver, Colorado and received board certification
upon completion in 1994. It was during this three year residency
program that she met her long time friend and esteemed colleague
Dr. Tamara Poling.
Between 1994 and 2006 Dr. Hill served on active
duty in the Navy as a dermatologist and administrator at Portsmouth
Naval Hospital, Norfolk Virginia and National Naval Hospital, Bethesda,
Maryland. During
these 12 years she held numerous leadership positions and received
several awards and medals, retiring in July 2006 as a Captain,
USN. She was recruited to the Rapid City Medical Center dermatology
group in the fall of 2006 – And she is very thankful for the opportunity.
Dr. Hill is married to Ron Hill, CDR, USNR. The Hills have four
children, ages 10-22 and one dog. They enjoy snow skiing, camping
and entertaining with friends and family.
