Lycia A Scott, MD

Dr. Scott is a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming with a bachelor of science in 1993. She graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in 1999. Her internship year was completed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2000. She studied dermatology at the University of Iowa’s hospitals and clinics in Iowa City and graduated in 2003.

Dr. Scott is board certified in dermatology since 2003. She practices general and medical dermatology with emphasis in pediatric dermatology, laser surgery, and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Scott is in her seventh year of practicing dermatology in the Skin Institute at the Rapid City Medical Center.

In 2007, 2008 & 2009, the Consumers’ Research Council of America selected her as one of America’s top dermatologists. Additionally, she is in her fifth consecutive year as a member of the Dermatology Foundation Leader’s Society. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the American Medical Association and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. In 2009 she was awarded the lifetime membership into the Global Directory of Who's Who.

She enjoys living in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She has three daughters. During Dr. Scott's free time, she enjoys running, skiing, and is an avid reader. Most of all, she enjoys her three children.

She is also passionate about fundraising. In 2007, along with the assistance of her partners, nurses, and community volunteers, she began the first annual Made for Shade fundraiser and foundation. During this initial year, they raised over $15,000 to provide shade on public school playgrounds. Every year, on the last Thursday in June, Made for Shade has a gourmet food and wine tasting event. This event serves as the main fundraiser for the foundation. They have raised nearly $50,000 in three years. Their goal is to provide shade to all of the area school playgrounds, coupling this with sun precautions and education to decrease skin cancer. She believes this goal will markedly decrease skin cancer in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
