Lycia A Scott, MD

Dr. Scott is a native of a Waukesha, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming with a bachelor of science in 1993. She graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in 1999. Her transitional year was completed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2000. She studied dermatology at the University of Iowa’s hospitals and clinics in Iowa City and graduated in 2003.

Dr. Scott is board certified in dermatology since 2003. She practices general and medical dermatology with emphasis in pediatric dermatology, laser surgery, and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Scott is in her fifth year of practicing dermatology in the Skin Institute at the Rapid City Medical Center.

In 2007, the Consumers’ Research Council of America selected her as one of America’s top dermatologists. Additionally, she is in her fourth year as a member of the Dermatology Foundation Leader’s Society. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the American Medical Association and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

She and her husband enjoy living in the Black Hills of South Dakota. They have three daughters. They enjoy playing tennis and golf as a family. During Dr. Scott’s free time, she enjoys running, skiing, and is an avid reader.

She is also passionate about fundraising. In 2007, along with the assistance of her partners, nurses, and community volunteers, she began the first annual Made for Shade fundraiser and foundation. During this initial year, they raised over $15,000 to provide shade on public school playgrounds. They plan to make this gourmet/food and wine tasting an annual event and fundraiser. Her dream is to have shade for playgrounds and local sporting venues in the Black Hills. She believes this goal will markedly decrease skin cancer in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
